Who Should Be Allowed to Bring a Plus- One to the Wedding?

One of the most challenging wedding planning tasks is making the guest list. When the budget is tight and everyone keeps coming up to you asking if they can bring a plus-one, can be really stressful. If you allow a few, others come complaining why they are being treated differently. What they don’t realize is that more people mean more food, cheap limousine rentals, more cake, and more décor. So if you are looking for some solid advice on how to face this debacle, these are the only two set of people who should be given a plus-one card.

People in Serious Relationships

All those guests who have been in a relationship with their partners for more than 6 months or a year deserve to be invited with a date. But that does have some expectations, before you go booking cheap limousine services for them, decide if they are close enough? Meaning, how well you know them or how often you meet. If live out of town and you rarely talk on the phone, it is up to you to decide whether they be given a plus one card or not.

Married Couples

That is a no-brainer. Any wedding guest who is married should be allowed to bring their spouse along. If you still have doubt, try putting yourself in their significant other’s shoes. How you have felt if the bride only invited your husband and not you? There, you have your answer. Start booking a cheap limo rental for them.

Cost Consideration:

Since your family will be paying for most of the wedding planning, you can’t allow everyone to come with a partner as that would easily up the cost by thousands. You will have to rent limo for them, set extra tables, order extra food, linins, cutlery etc. etc. If you can’t bear the additional costs, start shrinking the list. Cut any non-serious boyfriends or girlfriends you know won’t stay for long then move on to couple who are divorced but wish to bring someone along and so on. Even if you have the budge to slip a few extra members in, why waste it on people who don’t matter. Instead, spend it on something like your new house or honeymoon.
